Special Olympics Youth & Schools
project management & website design
As the Multimedia Storytelling and Content Manager for Special Olympics’ Global Youth and Education (GYE) Team, I led the development of a new online hub to showcase our work, from youth leadership programs to inclusive education research. The project was a highly collaborative effort, resulting in the launch of a dedicated section on the Special Olympics website that highlights not only the GYE team's work but all Special Olympics programming related to youth and schools.
Throughout the project, I played a multifaceted role.
As the project manager, I coordinated efforts between the GYE and Unified Schools teams, the central communications and web teams, regional offices worldwide, and external vendors. I also developed and executed a comprehensive communications plan to support the launch.
I provided creative direction, developing a unique visual identity for the youth and schools initiatives while staying aligned with the established Special Olympics brand guidelines. I also created resources to ensure consistent branding and style moving forward.
I contributed directly to content creation for the site with writing, graphic design, video editing, and copyediting and gained hands-on experience building pages within the CMS. I provided resources and training for other staff to support ongoing updates to the site.
Leading this project with my team was such a rewarding experience. The creativity and collaboration that led to our final product made the sense of accomplishment that much greater. Thank you to everyone who contributed to and supported this work. I am excited to see the continued growth of Special Olympics’ work in inclusive education and youth development across the globe.
