To Be A Good Friend

Jessica Gilbert is a special education teacher at Klem Road South Elementary School in Webster, N.Y. Gilbert works to model good behavior and teach social skills in addition to focusing on academics. She structures the day so that students can have individualized assignments for subjects such as English or Math and work on “being a good friend” during activities like yoga or games. She says, "It's hard cause they're all so different from each other." Each student has their own set of needs, their own challenges, and their own skillsets.
